As of September 2011, the government in England is fully funding the Maharishi school in Lancashire. They plan to open in other locations in the coming years. The Maharishi Free School follows the same program of Consciousness-Based Education as we do here in Victoria at the Ideal School. Pumpkin Patch

A favourite annual school field trip to Oldfield Orchard took place last Thursday, Oct 20th. The outing included many different activities, such as touring the store to see all the fruits and vegetables grown at the farm and saying hello to the goats, donkeys and pigs. Before going on a walk through the hen house, everyone was invited to choose an apple from the orchard for a quick snack.

The tractor-pulled wagon was a fun and bumpy ride over to feed the sheep and as an added bonus this year, farmer Raphael introduced his brand new flock of baby chicks.

Everyone was treated to freshly pressed apple juice and a piece of homemade apple crisp, while farmer Raphael answered questions. The wagon ride then headed over to the pumpkin patch where the day ended with the kids choosing their very own pumpkin to take home with them.

With the mild temperature and the fall sun shining down, the afternoon was enjoyed by everyone who attended.

Welcome to all our new families! It’s wonderful to have so many new faces at the school.

The new office construction is progressing well. Everyone is looking forward to the extra space.

Work is well underway on the new school office! The push is on to complete construction in the next two weeks. This new space will mean that the old office area can be used as a small group instructional space, meeting space, snack preparation area for out of school care, and more. Thank you to those who have lent a hand on this project so far.

23rd Annual VSIE Beach Day

The last day of school was once again celebrated at the beach. The children spent the afternoon playing in the waves and the forest and were joined by their parents for a potluck in the evening. The chocolate fountain was especially popular.

The Wizard of Oz

All the students shone in the year-end production of the Wizard of Oz last week. Kudos to director Colleen Lissamer who pulled the whole thing together, complete with flying monkeys, three Dorothies, and a group of lovely munchkins.

The Ideal School Awards Night

Last night was the year-end awards ceremony. All the students lit candles and made wishes for children around the world. Rudy said, “We light this light for all the children of Libya. Our wish for them is the civil war stops.” Anders and Hadley lit a candle for the children of Afghanistan, “Our wish for them is that the war will end and they stop making land mines.”
