Grade 6-8 – Guerrilla Art

The grade 6-8 class goes on weekly outdoor education excursions.  These trips are important for the students’ social and emotional growth.  It is wonderful to see them grow as a group throughout the year as they learn to work with, and trust, each other.  On one particularly soggy day we set out to create “guerrilla art” in Summit park.  This cute Sea Turtle was created with the understanding that nature or people would eventually destroy it and that the gift was in the process of creating it.  On another (beautiful) day at Dallas road we tasked the students with collecting driftwood to bring back to our school to be used as giant tinkertoys.  They created a small fort for the younger students to discover and play with the following day.
